…that are heaven sent!
by Chuck Finney, President
Some radio stations would be thrilled to have a Net Promoter Score (NPS) in the +30s. Christian Teaching and Hybrid (Teaching & Music) radio? They’re playing in a whole different league!
Net Promoter Score (NPS) measures customer loyalty by asking how likely customers are to recommend a company, product, or service on a 0–10 scale. For radio stations, it reflects listeners’ willingness to recommend their station to others. Respondents are grouped into three categories: Promoters (9–10), Passives (7–8), and Detractors (0–6). NPS equals the percentage of Promoters minus the percentage of Detractors, resulting in a score.
Across five Finney Media Why Listen® Surveys, Hybrid listeners delivered NPS scores of +78, +70, +74, +74, and +77 in 2016, 2018, 2021, 2023, and 2025.
Teaching listeners? +79, +72, +88, +85, and +81.
For perspective, those numbers stack up impressively against major brands. Amazon has scored around +62, while Costco and Starlink have posted scores in the +60s in reported benchmarks. Christian radio is knocking on the door of near-universal enthusiasm!
And what happened in 2021? Teaching radio soared to +88. Did the pandemic play a role? When the world felt upside down, perhaps listeners leaned even more heavily on trusted voices, biblical truth, and spiritual encouragement. We can’t prove the connection, but the timing certainly makes you wonder.
Here’s the real headline: five surveys, nine years, and consistently exceptional scores. Hybrid listeners bounced back to +77 in 2025, while Teaching listeners remained sky-high at +81.
Apparently, when listeners find radio that feeds their faith, they don’t just tune in. They tell their friends!
Now THAT’S something worth broadcasting.
